Science Homework: Rocket Report! 5th June 2014

Today we had an exciting time building and launching rockets in the playground. We had so much fun that I want to relive those amazing moments! Your homework tonight is to write a report of what we did today and what you learned. I can't wait to read the results!

  1. Today, Thursday 5th June 2014,we built and launched our own rockets. The reason we did this was because it was Science Week and we were learning about Forces.

    1. Firstly, we made our own rockets using two 2 litre bottles, some special tape, a tennis ball, some flaps for wings and scissors. Luckily, we had adults to help us. My Dad came to help us.

    2. After we made our rockets, we went to our school field and had a launch pad set up for us. We then had to fill our bottle up with around 500ml of water.

    3. Then, we had to pump the rocket up and pushed a clutch which let the rocket go!

    We had so much fun launching our rocket. One of my friend's rocket went into my other friend's garden! And at the end, the instructor told my friend to show and they made it go into another person's garden. Right at the end, they gave the rocket back. Best day ever!

  2. Today we had lots of fun
    we got put into groups
    and the first group made
    the rockets the second
    group launched .


    1. First we walked on the field and put water in the bottom of our rockets.
    2. Then we get put into pairs and get the special glasses.
    3. After that the pairs design there angle i designed i would put mine on a 45 degree angle.
    4.Finally you put your rocket on the launcher and squeeze the bar to launch the rocket.


    Today we had lots of fun and my best bit was when we launched the rocket and every one counted down for you 10 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 BLAST OFF!!!!!!

  3. Today we had a grat time launching rockets. Andrew from the Laboratory in Teddington. We first made our rockets and then we launched it. I felt like a real rocket scientist today.We actually had nuclear powered bombs because the sun is nuclear.
    It was great.
    We had a lot more fun but this is a brief summary of the day.

  4. Today, it was a day when we did our rocket launch for science week!!!

    1. Firstly, we all went to a year 6 classroom with a person named Andrew .
    2. Secondly, Andrew and her friend taught us how to make a rocket using tape;tennis ball;2 two litre bottles; paper fins and scissors.
    3. After that , all of us walked to the field and filled our rocket at least 500l or less.
    4. Next, Rhea and I pumped the rocket 3 bars( you can do it 1-4 bars if you like)
    5. Rhea and I squeezed a handle and the rocket bursted and all the water out while it was flying!!
    6. The aim was to shoot the rocket in the red bucket.
    Thank you miss Croash for the workshop I have learnt so many things today and it was really fun!!

We had a fantastic workshop with with Andrew a laboratory in Teddington,he told ua a lot os things about how are rockets should work and fly so they land in the red bucket in the middle of the field. We launched are rockets by using water for the excelleration and 3 bars of air pressure.Our rockets were nuclear powered because the sun is nuclear and the sun gives energy to hte world.It was a fantastic expirience and my mum agrees!

  6. Today we had a rocket launch and our teachers came with us for a stupendous workshop. Our topic this week was science, as it was science week.

    1. We went into a Year 6 classroom where we met a person called Andrew.
    2. He taught us how to make rockets with a tennis ball, duct tape and two 2 litre bottles.
    3. We walked to the field and we found launchers ready there.
    4.We filled the rockets back part with the minimum of 300L.
    5. We pumped the inside where the water was, so the pressure could build up.
    6. we tilted it at an angle of 45 degrees, in the second go, 60 degrees.
    7. We did this two times, but we were supposed to do it 3 times, we ran short of time.

    The aim was to make the rocket go into the bucket, every-one failed sadly.
    It was a fantastic day and we had lots of fun!!
