Heron of Alexandria invented steam engines and automatic doors. We do not use steam engines anymore but we still use automatic doors. We still benefit today by doors opening for people with baby buggies.

Eupalamas invented an anchor made out of wool. This was the first anchor ever.
Anacharsis then invented the first metal anchor. This is an very important part of the ship even though it is such a small thing compared to the size of the ship.
